American City Business Journals "ACBJ" is an American newspaper chain based in Charlotte, North Carolina. ACBJ publishes under six brands, which together reach four million readers: The Business Journals, which publishes local business news for 44 markets in the United States, Hemmings Motor News, Street & Smith's Sports Business Daily, Inside Lacrosse, AmericanInno, and Bizwomen.com. The company is owned by Advance Publications. Wichita Business Journal is part of the ACBJ.

On July 2018 a former employee thinks that there was no room for growth at ACBJ, he wrote a review for Indeed: Some of upper management don't care about their employees, just clearly showing that they didn't like them at all. No one correcting that behavior but instead supporting it.

"Bullying. The managers literally make a hostile enviroment for everyone they choose to dislike. There is literally no opportunity to move up within this company every higher up position is only given to "seasond" employees and excuses are made for the new employees who try to make it further. There is a mentality of being better than people who have a lesser means than the people who work there. They expect you to stop your entire life for the company leaving no room for a work life balance."

"High amount of nepotism. Jobs typically fall to persons with seniority, even if they are less qualified."

"Extremely hostile environment. Managers and executives have little knowledge in fields but making decisions that hurt customers, employees and the bank. Intrust used to be a great place to work until leadership decided to be like Bank of America and went corporate. They do not care about employees or their customers."

"Unethical company that allows blatant bullying. Managers that run people off by creating hostile environment."

"-Management are bullies and rewarded for it -pay is not enough for work performed -you don't have just your job to do, they make you do everyone else's as well, so they don't have to hire new employees. Then, when extra hours are needed to complete a job meant for more than1,2,3 people they want you to try and keep your overtime down. It is impossible to keep overtime down when you do a job meant for more than one person. There are only so many hours in the day to get things done. -Most times you are so busy you don't have time to go to lunch"

"Supervisors are sometimes given too much free reign of their departments. Upper management appears oblivious to daily happenings of some departments including overall workflow and how their direct reports are managing staff."

"Supervisors seem out of touch with the employees they manage, caring too much about employees' personal lives and how to make them revolve around then bank. Supervisors don't seem to understand that some employees just want to work and go home rather than be emotionally invested in the corporate culture. And there's a balatent disregard for helping employees be more capable to do their jobs in a practical sense. They promote this idea of wanting to grow and improve, being open to any and all suggestions... but apparently only if it comes from a member of management."
